From february to september 2019, several concerts will be organized by Haus zur ZwischenZeit to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ivan Wyschnegradsky’s death. The Ivan Wyschnegradsky’s 1/4 tone piano is currently being restored for that purpose at Haus zur ZwischenZeit (Basel).

Concert février 2016

Pianists Anni Collan and Sanna Iljin and composer, pianist Matti Heininen will play a concert on two grand pianos tuned a quartertone apart, and introduce Finnish audiences to the most important composer of quartertone music in the 20th Century, Ivan Wyschnegradsky (Russia/France 1897-1979).
The duo will also play new music by Matti Heininen, and Heininen will give a lecture on Wyschnegradsky and his music.
The concert is part of Sibelius Academy’s Soiva Akatemia series.

Ivan Wyschnegradsky’s Méditation sur 2 thèmes de la Journée de l’Existence (Meditation on 2 themes from The Day of Existence) Op. 7 for cello and piano will be played during Festival BIFEM by Judith Hamann and James Rushford – Golden Fur ensemble.

With the participation of students from the Piano, Chamber Music, Analysis, Music History, Conducting and Composition classes.

 

This Study Day will include a Master Class led by Martine Joste about the Etude sur les Mouvements rotatoires op. 45 for 2 pianos 8 hands, the Méditation sur deux thèmes de La Journée de l’Existence, op. 7, for cello and piano and a few Préludes op. 22 for 2 pianos.

 

This will be followed by an afternoon of study regarding writing techniques, with the interpretation of the Trio à cordes op. 53. It will finish by a Round Table led by Pierre-Albert Castanet, followed by a concert given by the students, with works by Wyschnegradsky and Pascale Criton, and first performances of works by Alain Bancquart and by a student of the Composition class.

Coordinated by Pascale Criton and Martine Joste, this event will bring together musicologists from Germany (Barbara Barthelmes, Elena Poldiaeva), from Russia (Lidia Ader), from Switzerland (Roman Brotbeck) and from France (Jean-Claude Marcadé, André Lischke, Jean-Yves Bosseur, Pascale Criton). Attendants will witness the first performance of Ivan Wyschnegradsky’s Trio pour Ondes Martenot, dated 1965.
